Since 2012, APYD has actively worked on raising awareness of issues impacting our youth and collaborating with youth, parents, organizations, and advocates to provide communities with strategies for improving positive youth outcomes.

Equity in Education

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted educational inequities that have long existed in the U.S. public education system. Low-income communities and students of color are struggling the most during the pandemic with a lack of digital access and support services. It is time to take action and demand equity in schools.

School Discipline

Out of school suspensions decreases student achievement and increases the risk of youth being involved in risky behaviors. Our campaign call to action is to push for the implementation of effective holistic alternatives like restorative justice and activities that promote social-emotional learning. Juvenile Justice

Putting our children behind bars has drastic negative implications. The current juvenile justice system does not allow youth to heal trauma or have the opportunity to thrive in life. In collaboration with Dignity In Schools, APYD is fighting to keep our kids out of jail and demanding that we start to invest in services and programs that improve positive outcomes for all youth. Follow us on social media to learn more about our demands and how you can help.

Undocumented Children

Out of all of the children living in the United States, over 25% live with at least one migrant parent. As community members, we must create welcoming and supportive communities for children and families who have faced and continue to face impactful traumas and challenges. Together we can create communities that heal trauma, foster growth, and support the children of our future.
